Yezelalem Minch is an orphanage that reaches out to children orphaned by AIDS in the heart of Addis Ababa, a capital city of nearly three million people living at nearly 9,000 feet above sea level. In the Amharic language Yezelalem Minch means “Never-ending Spring.” It’s a reference to Isaiah 58:10-11: “If you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed...The Lord will guide you always; you will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

Yezelalem Minch was started by and is run by Ethiopian staff. It began with two children in 2001 and today provides care to more than 750 children. It also helps HIV/AIDS affected mothers provide for their children by helping them start small businesses roasting coffee and making other crafts.

Blue Nile Traders supports Yezelalem Minch by distributing their products and returning 100% of the profits to the mothers, children and staff in Addis Ababa. Blue Nile is not a fair trade brand, but a direct ministry on behalf of these widows and orphans. Your morning cup of coffee could be providing work to a widow or food for a parentless child
